Week in Review: Josh Stein Rallies Voters Across North Carolina
This week, Attorney General and Democratic nominee for Governor Josh Stein traveled around North Carolina, meeting with community leaders and sharing his vision for a safer, stronger state.
Attorney General Stein kicked off the week in Franklin County as part of his “Real Time with Stein” Tour. At the event, he detailed his plans for expanding job opportunities in rural North Carolina and his work as Attorney General to protect high-quality rural health care. On Tuesday, he also joined leaders in Durham’s African-American community to share his “Ready. Set. Save!” plan to lower education costs for teachers and families, commitment to protecting voting rights, and the importance of engaging as many people as possible in the upcoming election.
On Wednesday, Josh joined several Black PACs across North Carolina to thank them for their support and emphasize the importance of building a broad-based coalition that will energize voters and keep North Carolina moving forward. Commissioner Alston stressed at the event that “it is more important than ever that we stand together in our shared commitment to the principles and values that matter most to our communities.”
On Thursday, Josh met with the UA Local 421 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in Cabarrus County to promote apprenticeship and job training programs. Throughout the campaign, he has made clear that folks shouldn’t have to go to a traditional four-year college to provide for their family.
Following EMPAC’s endorsement of Attorney General Stein, he spoke yesterday at the State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) Convention. He highlighted the crucial work that state employees do in every community in North Carolina, and advocated for higher wages to fight the state employee vacancy crisis.
Meanwhile, it seems that every time Mark Robinson campaigns across the state, crowds of protestors follow. In Newton, Concord, and Lexington, protestors expressed concern about Robinson’s plans to defund public education and strip women of their reproductive freedoms. It’s no surprise that so many North Carolinians are protesting these campaign stops; recent news reveals that Robinson has never attended a meeting of the North Carolina’s Military Affairs Commission, intends to reject federal education funds, and believes “some people need killing.” North Carolinians want their elected officials to put people over politics, and the contrast between Mark Robinson and Josh Stein couldn’t be more clear.
