North Carolina Nurses Back Josh Stein For NC Governor

At a rally in Asheville today, National Nurses United announced its endorsement of Josh Stein to be North Carolina’s next Governor, highlighting his record of standing up for nurses and fighting for expanded access to affordable health care for every person across the state.

“As a state senator and as Attorney General, Josh Stein has consistently fought for nurses and for every North Carolinian’s right to access quality, affordable health care,” said Hannah Drummond, RN in the emergency department at Mission Hospital. “We look forward to partnering with Josh in the months ahead to ensure nurses are treated with respect and dignity so we can deliver people across North Carolina the level of care they deserve.”

“These nurses literally work day and night to care for the people of North Carolina,” said Attorney General and Democratic nominee for Governor Josh Stein. “They deserve our support. I’m proud to be endorsed by North Carolina’s nurses and look forward to working with them as Governor to keep North Carolina healthy and safe.”

As Attorney General, Josh Stein has fought to protect North Carolinians’ access to quality, affordable health care. He successfully defended the Affordable Care Act in the U.S. Supreme Court and fought to expand health care access to more than 600,000 North Carolinians by expanding Medicaid. He has taken on HCA for its failure to meet its commitment to provide quality, affordable care for the people western North Carolina.  Meanwhile, Mark Robinson has criticized Medicaid expansion at every turn, saying that he was “not pleased,” “dismayed,” and that he “hope[d] that it fails.” He has also shared his support for repealing the ACA without replacement
