News & Observer: Audio Reveals Robinson Said Biden “Stole The Election”
Ahead of his fundraiser with former President Trump at Mar-a-Lago tomorrow, reporting from the News and Observer uncovered audio of Lieutenant Governor Robinson embracing Trump’s false claims about the 2020 election, saying of President Joe Biden: “he stole the election – yeah I said that.”
The Lieutenant Governor has recently dodged questions about the legitimacy of the 2020 election and a spokesperson for his campaign “did not address what Robinson said,” when asked by the News & Observer.
But his election denying comments of the past continue to pile up as reports note he has “implied before that the election results were illegitimate.” Reporting from July revealed that in a speech to the Conservative Political Action Coalition, Robinson said: “I don’t care what you tell me, 83 thousand [sic] people did not vote for Joe Biden. I don’t think 83 million people know who Joe Biden is.”
“Mark Robinson’s track record of spreading lies and dangerous conspiracy theories about the 2020 election undermines faith in our democracy and is yet another reason he is wrong for North Carolina,” said Kate Frauenfelder, a spokeswoman for Josh Stein for North Carolina. “North Carolinians deserve a leader they can trust to ensure their freedom to vote is protected – Mark Robinson cannot be our governor.”
