NEW AD: NC Woman Who Needed Life-Saving Abortion Says Mark Robinson’s Extreme Abortion Ban Puts Women At Risk

A new ad by Josh Stein for North Carolina tells the story of Audra, a North Carolina woman who needed a life-saving abortion. In the ad, Audra highlights her experience, saying: “I could not have been happier to be pregnant. But during a routine ultrasound, I found out that my baby was not going to make it and I was at risk.”

In reaction to Mark Robinson blaming abortions on women “not being responsible enough to keep your skirt down,” Audra calls his statements “despicable” and issues a warning that his “extreme abortion ban will absolutely put women at risk.”

Like Audra, women across the Southeast are often forced to delay medical care and risk their own lives because of restrictive and harmful abortion bans. Yet, Mark Robinson has consistently advocated for a “zero week” abortion ban, even as recently as this month.

“Politicians like Mark Robinson need to stay out of these deeply personal and often life-saving medical decisions,” said Jeff Allen, campaign manager for Josh Stein for North Carolina. “As Governor, Josh Stein will fight for women like Audra and North Carolina families so they have the freedoms they deserve.”

Watch “Audra” here:

Mark Robinson: Abortion in this country is not about protecting the lives of mothers… It’s about killing the child because you weren’t responsible enough to keep your skirt down.

Audra: I could not have been happier to be pregnant. But during a routine ultrasound, I found out that my baby was not going to make it and I was at risk. What Mark Robinson said is despicable.

Mark Robinson: We could pass a bill saying you can’t have an abortion in North Carolina for any reason.

Audra: Mark Robinson’s extreme abortion ban will absolutely put women at risk.
