Mark Robinson Triples Down On Plan For Total Abortion Ban
After months of efforts to lie to voters about his extreme plans to ban abortion with no exceptions, Mark Robinson has once again made clear where he really stands. CBS 17 reports that, at a recent rally in Pitt County, Robinson told his audience, “We’ve got it down to 12 weeks. The next goal is to get it down to six. And, then just keep moving from there.”
Earlier this year, CNN highlighted his repeated support for a complete ban on abortion, saying “there is no compromise on abortion” and that he doesn’t “believe in abortion under any circumstance.” They noted his support for legislation “saying you can’t have an abortion in North Carolina for any reason.” He has also previously called abortion “murder,” “genocide,” and “child sacrifice,” as well as comparing it to slavery.
Robinson has continuously attempted to mislead voters regarding his stance on abortion. Recently, he has deliberately “stopped using what he calls the ‘a-word,” but explained that he has “not changed my position. I’ve just changed…what I’m saying.”
Meanwhile, recent polling indicates that only 9 percent of North Carolinians agree with Robinson’s stance supporting a total abortion ban. A majority of North Carolinians prefer a governor who supports protecting women’s freedom to make their own health care decisions – not restricting them.
“Mark Robinson is once again proving how out of step he is with the people of North Carolina by reiterating his support for a total ban with no exceptions,” said Attorney General and candidate for Governor Josh Stein. “As North Carolina’s next Governor, I will fight for women’s right to make their own decisions about their own bodies.”
