Josh Stein Stands Up for IVF, While Mark Robinson Refuses to Defend It
Yesterday at a press conference, Attorney General and Democratic nominee for governor Josh Stein “vowed to protect access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment across the state” and called on the General Assembly to pass legislation that “makes crystal clear that IVF is protected here in North Carolina.”
While 86% of Americans support IVF, Mark Robinson has refused to answer multiple inquiries regarding if he will protect IVF. Meanwhile, Robinson has spoken twice at North Carolina’s Right to Life rally, which has been “been explicit in its opposition to IVF.” Robinson has also said that he “absolutely” believes that life begins at conception, a position in conflict with IVF.
“This issue of IVF is just one more way that Mark Robinson is wrong for North Carolina and out of step with families’ needs,” said Kate Frauenfelder, a spokeswoman for Josh Stein for North Carolina. “As Governor, Josh will stand up for North Carolinians’ freedom to make their own decisions about starting a family without politicians getting in the way.”
