Josh Stein Launches “Women for Stein” At Packed Greensboro Rally
Today in Greensboro, Attorney General and Democratic nominee for Governor Josh Stein launched “Women for Stein,” a constituency group dedicated to powering Josh to victory this November. As Mark Robinson’s extreme plans to ban abortion with no exceptions and past comments disrespecting women come under scrutiny, Stein is committed to engaging women of all political stripes across North Carolina to work together to fight for their fundamental rights and freedoms.
“When women, or anyone who’s been historically underrepresented in leadership, sit at the table and bring their perspectives and expertise, great things happen for the people of North Carolina,” said Attorney General and candidate for Governor Josh Stein. “Today’s enthusiasm inspires me, and I am confident that together, we can build a North Carolina that protects women’s freedoms and builds a brighter future for generations of women to come.”
Stein was joined by State Senator Gladys Robinson, who told the audience about her experience of Stein as her seatmate in the state Senate. “Tell your friends, he’s already defended our rights. And when he becomes governor of our state, he’s going to defend our rights.”
State Representative Ashton Clemmons also spoke, sharing her experiences with young women telling her, “I’m not going to stay in North Carolina – I’m going to go where women are more respected.” Clemmons spoke to “the moment we’re called to” for defending women’s reproductive rights and freedoms.
Women for Stein Chair Pat Levitin led the crowd in a call and response, telling the audience, “We don’t have a choice. We have to elect Josh Stein as our next governor of North Carolina.”
Women for Stein will participate in postcarding, phonebanking, texting, and canvassing to raise awareness around the stakes of the 2024 election.
