Josh Stein Launches “Law Enforcement for Stein,” Emphasizes Commitment to Public Safety

This week in Greensboro, Attorney General and Democratic nominee for Governor Josh Stein launched “Law Enforcement for Stein,” a coalition of statewide and local law enforcement officials supporting Stein’s public safety platform and vision for a safer, stronger North Carolina.

“Law enforcement officers keep us safe by confronting danger – we must take every opportunity to support these heroes,” said Attorney General and Democratic nominee for Governor Stein. “That includes putting more resources toward recruiting and retaining law enforcement officers so they can fight crime, including the deadly fentanyl epidemic and cold case sexual assaults and murders.”

“Josh Stein has dedicated his time as Attorney General to making North Carolina’s communities safer, partnering with law enforcement to go after drug traffickers and seek justice for survivors of sexual assault,” said Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough, who introduced Stein. “He’s always willing to sit down with us and listen, and he has advocated for us where it matters. He will continue to fight for a safer, stronger North Carolina as our next Governor.”

After the launch of “Law Enforcement for Stein,” Stein traveled to Charlotte to tour the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program at Central Piedmont Community College, where he spoke with trainees about why they chose to enter the profession.

As Attorney General, Stein has invested in officer recruitment and retention, proposing a public safety package that increases funding for hiring, outreach, and mental health investment. He has partnered with law enforcement to end the rape kit backlog and to tackle the fentanyl crisis, and he called on Congress to fund fentanyl scanners at the border. Stein also worked with the legislature to strengthen North Carolina’s laws protecting kids from child sex abuse. He and his team have successfully prosecuted murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, and child sex abusers.

Attorney General Stein has been endorsed by dozens of sheriffs and district attorneys who are backing Stein’s vision of a safer and stronger North Carolina.
