In Newly Reported Comments, Mark Robinson Disrespects Black Women & Sexual Assault Survivors, Calls Himself A “Chauvinist Pig”

“In numerous posts, Robinson both mocked and cast doubt on accusations of sexual assault”

Following Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson’s long history of disrespecting women – particularly powerful women – new reporting from The 19th reveals that Robinson takes pride in his sexism, referring to himself as a “male chauvinist pig.” 

The 19th reporting uncovers Robinson’s disrespect for Black women in particular. In Facebook posts, Robinson called First Lady Michelle Obama an “angry anti-American communist Black lady,” saying she spoke “ghetto” and “wookie.” Robinson also called US Representative Maxine Waters “Ol’ ‘Maxie Pad’ Waters.”

Robinson also “mocked and cast doubt on accusations of sexual assault” in the context of the #MeToo movement, including “insulting the appearances of accusers.”  In previous comments reported by the Huffington Post, Robinson posted that Halle Berry, Mariah Carey, and Issa Rae were “dressing in see thru, ultra tight, breast bearing whore dresses to protest sexual harassment.”

“Robinson’s continued disrespect and degradation of women has no place in North Carolina,” said Morgan Hopkins, a spokeswoman for the campaign. “He not only believes women — and especially women who look like me — aren’t meant for leadership, but also wants to tell women what to do with their bodies, their families, and their futures. This November, North Carolina women will have the last word by rejecting his bigotry.”
