Last month, the US House of Representatives voted to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, a critical resource to address gender-based violence. Reauthorization of the Act would provide needed funds to investigate and prosecute violent crimes against women and prevent abusive partners from accessing firearms. Since the Violence Against Women Act lapsed in 2019, the US Senate Republicans have refused to take up the bill.
