North Carolina Attorney General, Josh Stein, visited the new Dix Crisis Intervention Center in Onslow County.

The visit was to raise awareness of the opioid crisis in the east.

A panel discussion included commissioners from Onslow, Craven, and Carteret Counties.

Stein said the counties could not have made this possible without the help of one another.

“Their leaders have come together in a cooperative fashion, and it’s not on the counties, but it’s the city of Jacksonville, the hospital," Stein said. They are providing a desperately needed service for the people of these three counties.”

The facility will be utilized to help those suffering from mental health issues or substance abuse.
