Following up on access to quality health care 6 months after Mission Health's sale to HCA: Attorney General Josh Stein was back in Western North Carolina Thursday, making two stops at Mission Health in McDowell and Transylvania Counties.

He met with hospital leaders, learning more about hospital operations and discussing rural health care access.

"The delivery and access to health care, it's a quality of life issue, but it's also a life issue," Stein said. "People will live or die depending on how well this health system delivers care to the people of Western North Carolina. So I was very encouraged in what I saw during the meeting and on my tour."

Stein said there are new innovations that HCA is bringing to the system, and in some cases it's a continuation of what Mission Health had started.
